Welcome To Leon Elementary

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Leon Elementary. I am excited about welcoming you all back and seeing where this year's S.T.O.R.Y. takes you. That's right, our theme for this year is Start Today On Reimagining Yourself! Each person, adult and child, enters this building everyday with the opportunity to grow and reach new goals. I can't wait to see the STORY of each of you this next year.

The faculty and staff are once again excited for the opportunity to partner with the parents and community to ensure that ALL students receive positive social and academic learning experiences throughout the year.  We aspire to promote respect for one’s self, one another and adults, exposing students to the best research-based instructional practices and strategies. Our goal is to instill a desire in students to work hard and perform at a high level of achievement. As your principal, I am committed to leading our staff in partnering with parents and the community to ensure that academic success for Leon Elementary students continues to be a top priority. The school days that follow are intended to be productive and memorable! I believe that through our combined efforts, we will be able to provide students with a safe, rewarding and successful school year!

At Leon Elementary, we are actively working towards upholding the districts vision of instilling pride and inspiring excellence. We want students to become lifelong learners, to become contributing members of society and to learn how to reach their full potential. The teachers and staff teach the Texas TEKS, assess in a variety of ways and we make necessary instructional adjustments through differentiating instruction to meet the individual needs of ALL students. We have the expectation that every student can make progress.

I encourage each parent to make this school year a priority by joining the school’s staff in encouraging academic excellence by:

  • Making sure your child is at school every day, on time and prepared for class so that he/she is ready to learn.
  • Making a commitment to education at home through assisting with homework, reading together, practicing math computation/problem solving skills and encouraging good behavior.
  • Making an effort to stay in communication with your child’s teacher to ensure that social, behavioral and academic goals are being met.

Once again, we look forward to having an academically rewarding year with your students. We also appreciate having the opportunity to facilitate the academic and social progress of students at LES! Please feel free to contact me at (903) 626-1429 or email at gmiddleton@leonisd.net if you have any questions or concerns.
